Is feminism just a fancy word? Are feminists a threat to society? Is demanding an equal right, equal voice, equal vision, and equal pay really that bizarre?

A young Jane rushed past the slow-moving revolving doors as she entered into the hallway, into the sea of people wearing blue and black blazers. These people going past each other decided the market and the stock exchange, each person completely unaware of the other had an earpiece stuck in their ear. Jane swiftly moving rushed past the verifying authorities with a swipe of id on each door, to reach her floor. As she walked past the endless labyrinth of cubicles she could see Oliver, the head executive eyeing her. She had just scored a win and was determined to show it to him. As she gathered her breath, straightened her tie, and patted the wrinkles on her pant. She entered Oliver’s corner office for the final showdown. She slapped the document onto the table and was ready to calmly pour herself a drink when Oliver just informed her of her demotion. She couldn’t believe it, she felt her heart pounding and the blood rushing to her face, but almost instantly the anger disappeared. Without showing even a twitch of emotion on her face, she took a sip from her glass and called it quits. She was one of the smartest brains around, young for her age, but she compensated for that with her quick on the feet thinking. She wasn’t going to stay a minute in a place that didn’t value her.

A man who said it the right way!

Models in the industry are often exploited by their agencies, with a promise of payment of dues which are held back by them over the due course of several months. Such are the situations that the models have to be available on call any time of the day, with no standardized pay or order to sustain their side of the story.

I have so many times on LinkedIn as well as newspapers have seen female achievers being described as “Female” achievers. The first female this or the first female that, while it’s important to acknowledge the milestone and the struggle that went behind being the first, later on, it shouldn’t be generalized as a female entrepreneur for example. The playing ground should be level, her job is of an entrepreneur, not a female entrepreneur.

  • It’s abundantly clear that our specific views on these issues are rooted deeply in our own personal and direct experiences, rather than in any data, research, or science surrounding the issues.
  • There are millions of people who both inwardly and outwardly do not support the idea that there should be equal rights and equal opportunities for men and women
  • There are thousands of people who feel we’ve already arrived at equality for men and women.
  • There are also thousands of people who believe we’re not at all there yet, and support continuing efforts to pave the way for equal rights for men and women.

So let’s see what it really means to be a feminist?

Understanding Feminism

Realize before Reacting!

It is synonyms with gender equality.

Why is it opposed?

Emma Watson when she was asked not to talk about Feminism
  1. Many people fear that feminism will mean that men will eventually lose out — of power, influence, impact, authority, and control, and economic opportunities.
  2. Many people believe that feminists want to control the world and put men down.
  3. Many people fear that feminism will overturn time-honored traditions, religious beliefs, and established gender roles, and that feels scary and wrong.
  4. Many people fear that feminism will bring about negative shifts in relationships, marriage, society, culture, power and authority dynamics, and in business, job, and economic opportunities if and when women are on an equal footing with men.

As 2021 inches closer day by day, I progress a day closer to becoming a female professional in the tech industry. Over the course of my life, I have realized directly or indirectly that women are still struggling. While the corporate world has its “diversity hiring” in place, many other industries like the creative, entertainment, non-profit organizations fail to embrace this inclusion even to date.

We are so long into the century, and still have to question female authority and her abilities, we still have the reigns over her freedom, we still fail to respect and dignify her.

She means ALL women :)

It is important for society to understand,

we are not here to take your jobs, your riches, or your power, we are just here to take ours!😁
